Adding your IMAP Mailbox to Outlook

If you're ready to connect your emails to Outlook, this step-by-step guide will walk you through adding your IMAP email account. Follow along, and you'll be up and running in no time!

 

Step 1: Open Outlook

  1. Click the Start menu and search for "Outlook."
  2. Open Outlook from the search results.

 

Step 2: Open Account Settings

  1. Click on the File menu in the top-left corner of Outlook.
  2. Choose Account Settings and then select Account Settings from the dropdown menu.

 

Step 3: Add a New Account

  1. In the Account Settings window, click the New button under the Email tab.
  2. Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.

 

Step 4: Choose Account Type

  1. Select POP or IMAP and click Next.

 

Step 5: Enter Your Account Information

Fill in the details as follows:

  • Your Name: (Your name – this will appear on the emails you send)
  • Email Address: (Your full email address, e.g., john.doe@example.com)

 

Server Information:

  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Incoming mail server: imap.stackmail.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.stackmail.com

 

Login Information:

 

Step 6: Adjust More Settings

  1. Click More Settings in the bottom-right corner.

  2. In the Internet Email Settings window, make the following adjustments:

    • Go to the Outgoing Server tab:

      • Tick My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
      • Select Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
    • Go to the Advanced tab:

      • Enter the following details:
        • Incoming server (IMAP): 993 with SSL/TLS encryption enabled
        • Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 with SSL/TLS encryption enabled

Click OK to save these settings.

 

Step 7: Test Account Settings

  1. Back in the Add Account window, click Next.
  2. Outlook will test your settings. If both tests complete successfully, click Close.

Step 8: Finish Setup

Click Finish and then Close the Account Settings window.

 

And you're done!

Your IMAP email account is now added to Outlook, and emails should start appearing shortly. We recommend sending a test email to ensure everything is working properly.
