How to Stop Microsoft Teams from Starting Automatically

Introduction: Tired of Microsoft Teams launching automatically when you start your computer, causing distractions and slowing down performance? You're not alone. Learn how to regain control over when Microsoft Teams starts by following these simple steps.

 

Guide:

  1. Open Microsoft Teams on your computer. You can usually find it in the taskbar or by searching for it in the Start menu.


  2. Once Microsoft Teams is open, click on the three dots to the left of your profile picture/initials. Click on it to reveal a dropdown menu.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select ‘Settings’. This will open the settings window where you can customise various options for Microsoft Teams.


  4. In the settings window, navigate to the ‘General’ tab. You can usually find it on the left-hand side of the settings menu.

  5. Within the ‘General’ tab, look for the option labelled ‘Auto-start application’. This setting controls whether Microsoft Teams launches automatically when you start your computer.

  6. To disable Microsoft Teams from starting up automatically, simply toggle the switch next to ‘Auto-start application’ to the off position. This will prevent Microsoft Teams from launching automatically in the future.


  7. After you’ve turned off the ‘Auto-start application’ setting, close the settings window. Your changes will be saved automatically.


  8. Microsoft Teams will no longer launch automatically when you start your computer, giving you more control over your computing experience and reducing unnecessary distractions.
