Using multimedia in your website can be massively useful to enhancing your content, supporting your message, and enabling visitors to access documents - such as PDF reports.
How to upload media to your website
- Login to your website as you normally would via the WordPress Admin Dashboard.
- Navigate to the 'Media' tab on the left hand sidebar, this will show you all of the media (images and other files) uploaded to your website anywhere on the site.
- Your Media Library may look slightly different if a 'folder' plugin has been installed onto the site. In this case, you may need to 'drag and drop' your file/photo into the appropriate folder in the filing system.
Example Media Library:
- Click on 'Add New' to add content to your WordPress Media Library. On this screen you can either 'drag and drop' the file into the box with a dashed line, or you can use the 'Select Files' button to browse for your file(s).
Depending on your exact hosting and website set-up the largest file size may vary.
- Once your file(s) has/have been uploaded to the Media Library they are ready for use.
- By clicking on the thumbnail of the media file, you can also view additional actions such as basic editing tools for photos (such as crop and rotate) and other details about the file, such as the 'File URL'.
- Where you want to share a file with website visitors to download - such as a form or information pack - you will need to use the 'Copy URL to clipboard' option to copy the File URL and link it in the relevant point in your website.
